American Boyhood

American Boyhood is a hands-on American history elective designed to cultivate courage, curiosity, practical skills, and a love for God and country. Through carefully selected living books, inspiring biographies, and engaging discussions, students will discover the people, places, and innovations that helped shape our nation.

Learning extends far beyond the pages of a book as students participate in engineering challenges, hands-on projects, outdoor skills, and creative activities that bring history to life. Along the way, they'll also be introduced to art, music, poetry, and traditions rooted in our American heritage,
helping them develop a deeper appreciation for the values and character that have influenced generations.

More than just a history class, American Boyhood is designed to encourage young men to think critically, work with their hands, lead with integrity, and grow in confidence as they learn from the examples of those who came before them. Our hope is that students leave with a greater understanding of America's story and a desire to honor God as they write their own.

Deanna Lawrence

Hello! My name is Deanna Lawrence, and I'll be teaching American Boyhood.

My husband and I have been married for many years, and together we've been blessed with five children and eight grandchildren. We've been homeschooling for the past 14 years, and it has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Before joining PEAK, I also had the opportunity to teach preschool at another homeschool co-op.

I have a love for traveling, spending time with my family, and dream of one day living on lots of acreage where we can enjoy a homesteading lifestyle.

I believe some of the best learning happens through meaningful experiences, great books, and hands-on activities. My hope is that American Boyhood will inspire young men to grow in character, develop practical skills, and gain a deeper appreciation for God, country, and the incredible history that has shaped our nation.
